Mark Mitchell - Composites

Layers of glass and ceramic have been used adjunct to one another, so that light can illuminate and activate the interior space of the sculptures. This play between interior and exterior space, and using composite materials to create a whole, references the atmospheric and spatial experiences we have of architectural spaces. The physicality of these two materials and their meeting can also be read to reference horizon lines, and lasting memories of experience and place.
