Emma Camden is one of New Zealand's foremost artists working with glass. Camden exhibits nationally and internationally and was the first New Zealand artist to win the highly sort after Ranamok Glass Award. Camden is a hands on artist working from series to series, recent bodies of work have included 'Passage' and 'Cross'. A new development is the 'Pillars' series. The surfaces of these have been varigated in a naturalist way allowing for slight imperfections within the glass to become features and evidentiary of their actuality. The use of clear glass exposes these nuances in surface and interplay with light. Camden views herself as a glass maker, the hands on process of constructing slab moulds and finishing techniques are highly significant to the sculptural forms Camden strives to develop.
