Artist Overview

J.S. Parker

Nature and music play complimentary roles as inspiration for John Parker's painting. His Plain Song series - for which he is well known - explores the elements observed in nature, translating in richly-applied paint the harmony and dissonance of colour, shape and texture.  Parker is a significant senior figure in New Zealand art and was recognised with an ONZM for services to painting in 2002.

The book J.S.Parker: Plain Song by Damien Skinner, published in 2009 by Millenium Art Gallery, Blenheim is available from the Arthouse just contact us for your copy.

J S Parker's next exhibition opens Wednesday 3 November 2010
