Grahame Sydney

Grahame Sydney is one of New Zealand’s foremost painters and printmakers having exhibited in numerous public art galleries across New Zealand. Sydney's contribution to the arts was acknowledged in 2003 when he was awarded an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, (ONZM) for services to painting. His artworks are held in many public collections throughout NZ as well as private collections worldwide. Sydney’s oeuvre is encapsulated in the artist’s own words “I’m the long stare not the quick glimpse.” His drawing skills are acutely precise and his work captures the essence of landscape or human form to a breathtakingly fine distinction.
