Inside and Out
1st exhibition at the Arthouse
Fitzharris is a ceramic artist with an imaginative and whimsical style; she creates small wall mounted creatures delicately and carefully bringing them to life giving them human characteristics and individual personality. Playful and tactile yet treasured objects at the same time. They explore the joys of life almost within a fairytale existence. Displayed in such a way as to implore interaction and explore connections with other beings and their surroundings. Fitzharris’s inspiration comes from her relationships and activities as well as the development and change in the human and natural world. Inside and Out refers to the materials, processes and subject matter where by the clay is taken from the outside in to work on, the dolls though domesticated hark to an earthy wilderness and the animals created reference outdoor life with gentle tame behaviour. Fitzharris’s profile is steadily building as her popularity increases, people are simply drawn to the beauty and intricacy of each work. So inimitable and endearing; every piece has a sense of identity and belonging that needs to be seen to be experienced.
