Claire Beynon
Born and educated in South Africa, Claire Beynon immigrated to Dunedin from Cape Town in November 1994. She completed a BAFA at the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, graduating In 1982 with distinction in printmaking and the faculty’s Certificate of Merit. The following year, Beynon spent several months in the post-graduate printmaking department at Chelsea School of Art, London, working alongside experienced printmakers and technicians such as Tim Mara, Colin Connor, Pamela Clarkson and others. Beynon’s first solo exhibition was in Johannesburg in 1984 and she has exhibited regularly since then, with solo and group shows in New Zealand, USA, South Africa, Australia, the United Kingdom and the Republic of China.
